Once again Portrush hosts Coleraine Borough Council’s all new Northern Ireland International Airshow. It has been rebranded with an all-new programme and an all-new location. ‘Air Waves Portrush’ has moved from the west side to the east side of Portrush’s peninsula on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September 2014, providing better and closer viewing of the aircraft.
With viewing points from Ramore Head through to East Strand beach, the event has the potential to have spectacular views from as far away as Dunluce Castle! This free fun event will be attracting families from all over Ireland, with enthusiasts coming from as far away as Europe.
The event will have aircraft such as BBMF Lancaster, BBMF Spitfire, The Blades Aerobatic Team, the famous RAF Red Arrows, RAF Sea King, and many more old and new planes and aircraft.
During the 2 days of Airwaves Portrush there is a full programme of events. Air Waves Portrush has the only Northern Ireland visit of BBC World War One At Home Tour and will feature on both days. Actor Larry Lamb is one of the well-known BBC faces who will take part in a number of the events, which will reflect on the dramatic impact the war had on families and communities, as well as helping people to explore their own relatives’ links to the war.
Saturday evening will feature an amazing fireworks display at Ramore Head. It is a big thank you from Barry’s Portrush to all its visitors in the 2014 season, and is delivered by Nemisis Fireworks.
Sunday 7th is Day 2 of the show and features the only appearance of the world’s best display team, the RAF Red Arrows.
